Cat with a weight problem?

My cat “cujo” is not due yet for her vet appointment until December. My question concerns her weight . I think she is getting to heavy and she wants to eats all the time…..she is a Seal Point Siamese…we have 2 other cats a Blue Russian “Sammy” and a Tabby “go-go”…..Cujo eats more then Sammy and go-go…..and weighs more then both of them.I want to start putting her on a diet so I brought diet cat food but this isn’t fair to the other two …..because they dont care for the food I brought .Is it normal for a Siamese to be fat / over weight?…keep in mind that Cujo is the youngest of the 3 and I have not had her a year yet….

It's very unusual for a Siamese to be fat. They are probably the most lean of all the breeds.elongated, sleek and graceful. But make no mistake, they may look skinny, but they are very muscular cats and will feel heavy when you lift them. I don't think you need to feed diet food to a 3 year old active Siamese. Instead you need to limit the amount you feed her and try feeding her twice a day, instead of allowing her to graze all day. That will help her regulate her appetite. Siamese are also soooo active. Play with her regularly and make sure she gets some excersie. I would assume she keeps your other cats active as well. Good luck.
Cujo might be suffering from diabetes. Don't wait until December and take your cat to the Vet now.
If you have one with a weight problem, you need to start separating them when you feed them. Lots of work, but you have to do it.
If your cats are free feeding on dry food - which I am assuming is the case, you will need to limit their dry food intake. Dry food is very high in carbohydrates as opposed to canned food which is high protein. Since cats are natural carnivores, carbohydrates are not good for them. They are meat eaters and should only be eating a high protein diet. If you can get them off dry food or limit the dry to maybe just a small handful a day and mainly feed them canned food twice daily, your cat is gauranteed to lose the weight. This diet will be great for your slimmer cats as well! -Don't worry about the teeth becoming dirty so much - the small handful of dry will help keep them clean. -I have much knowledge in the area of cat food and cat health- about 14 years experience and have many cats myself.. :)
Don't listen to New rider of the purple sage ,why Cretins like him bother to make stupid comments I don't know, must be he's in need of attention.

  1. True, you should bring your cat to the vet whenever there's something amiss.
