Do cats have eyelashes?

Are they really part of the coat or are they really eyelashes?
Answers:
yep
nope, cats doesn't have eyelashes.
yeah they have um on there tounges
I don't think they have eyelashes, but they do have a third eye lid on the inside that protects their eyes, somewhat like eyelashes would.
They wear false ones when they go out clubbing.and stilletto paws.
Most cats do not have eyelashes.

Here a fun fact, "Cat's urine glows under a black light."
They sure do. Haven't you seen a drawing of Hello Kitty? Gee..where have you been?
mine does
yes my cat does
no, no eye lashes, but mine sure does have cute whiskers especially the little ones higher up near her ears
Cats have eyelashes.
they don't need them.!!
YES, they do ! In fact, the is a birth defect in cats where the eyelashes are inverted - turned toward the eyeball - and the constant abrasion and irritation can result in blindness if not treated. Some breeds are more prone to this defect.

Do cats have emotions?

My cats seem to be strangly attached to me. They seem to be really sad when I'm away for a day or two. Do they have feelings that can be hurt?? Just wondering. I know, I'm the crazy cat lady. I just don't want them to be sad.
Answers:
All pets (animals) have emotions, and if they are closely attached to you they can sense when something is wrong with you. A lot of Psychiatrists and Psychologists think pets are good for people with depression. And all kinds of animals are used for therapy. My bunny, gets mad if I'm gone and thumps at me when I get back. He also don't like visitors he isn't use to in the house, and will thump the whole time company is there if he don't know them. Pets can be very close to us, very attached.
yes, all pets do
yep, they sure do.
everyone does!
even trees all livin things even ants!
Yes.
Most definitely. My cats even have their own unique personalities. Chances are, they just love you because you treat them well and give them good vibes.
Let your neighbor start feeding them and we'll see how "attached" they are to you. Have you ever heard of a cat saving someone from a burning building?
no I kick my cat every day and he still loves me and keeps coming back for more. i think he likes it now
yes they do, and the longer they live with humans the more emotionally they are in tune with their human masters.
your not crazy, of course cats as well as most animals have emotions and feelings.
Oh definately all animals have feelings they are just like humans in my opinion! My cats always know what to do and how to react to certain things if you watch them when you dont feel good they will rub on you and want to to be there by you non sto pbut they also know when its time to get away LOL.. My cats are really attached to me and when I leave they always run and get onthe kitchen table to look out the window untill I get in the car and the car backs up then they jump down.. They also are always waiting for me when I get home They have feelings and they have a brain, Dogs do the same things havent you ever known of a dog that tears things up when its owners are away?? They get depressed when they arent used to things just like we humans do.
Yes. When one of mine does something wrong you can tell he knows. And he pouts until he is forgiven.
YES they care about you! And whatever other people who don't have cats may say, it's not just cupboard love. I have people who watch my cats when I'm out of town, and the cats are always thrilled to see me come back.
Of course they have feelings. My cats miss me when I'm gone. One of my cats had to stay at the vet for 2 days and while she was gone my other cat was so depressed, he winned and would set at the door and wait for her. Brought her home and he was all over her, rubbing on her and just as happy as can be. And they do the same when i'm gone and come home.
never
my cats would very rearly come near me. but i went away for a month (i had someone feeding them). i came back a few days ago and they will not leave my side. so yes i think they have emotions.
I absolutely believe they have emotions. I am a pet grooming salon owner, and have seen many different emotions coming from cats. the most frightening one is when the water first hits them, they try to cling to the nearest person with dear life. I also see their emotions when they have have one to many times with the comb. they get angry. but the most special is when their owner comes and picks them up and they love all over them. Personally, my cat knows the sound of my car and waits at the door to greet me without fail. he also knows when I am ill, I had surgery recently and he never left my side unless he had to do his business or to eat.
yes they do and they do get mad. My father in law has a cat and she has mood swings i know it sounds crazy but she is a spoiled cat and if she does not get her way she gets very upset.
Absolutely. Dogs and Cats are really sweet pets. I had a cat before who would purr when I came back after work.
of course they do have feeling, because i have cats (2). when im confined to the hospital, my cats are not playfull, and eat a little. when i got home they jump and sit to my lap, kissing me, they seems theyre happy seeing me again. so with my dogs. if you show love in them they will show more love by way of licking your face and sitting on to your lap, look their tails its funny isnt it.
You should get hundreds of replies on this from cat lovers, (me included) :) Of course they have emotions! Generations of being tuned in to their humans, bred to be companions, and their extreme sensitivity (a hunting gene) have made them little psychiatrists! My daughters cat would sulk whenever she came home from a trip and after he felt she'd "suffered enough" he'd be all lovey again. Mine are very tuned in to my emotions, especially if I'm sad or depressed. But, cats aren't the only ones - I had an Arabian stallion who wouldn't eat if I went away for a few days.
They sure do have emotions. One of my friends had 2 cats %26 one died %26 the other one was so sad, stopped eating %26 kept looking %26 waiting for the other one come home.

Also if one of the cats falls off the couch while they're asleep or do something else really unco they look all offended if you laugh at them.
mine is very jealous
Of course they do! You are their family. The good news is that they will get over it. HOWEVER, if you are gone for more than a day or two, have a friend over to socialize with them. BTW, your screen name is interesting to me. My cat's name is Gemini. Are you a Gemini or is your cat a Gemini or is your cat named Gemini?
YES! Dont worry when you're away they miss you, but that makes them even happier when you come back home!
Yes, cats have emotions. They get sad because you are away, your the person that feeds them, pets them. They are intune with you. Also they are cats and they will get into mischief. Good that you have 2, they keep each other occupied.
oh yes they do! i have the sweetest smartest cat i think but he is so independant too, what cat isnt though?!
Yes they do
Absolutely - cats have emotions. They can feel happy, depressed, angry, anxious. while they do not probably have the fine nuances of human emotions, they do have feelings!

Do cats have different names or breeds?

or do they just look diffrent and different colors?
Thanks
Answers:
Oh Yes they do they mostly go by the how they look tho
yes there are hundreds of breeds of cats!! they vary by color, hair length and features just like dogs and birds!
Yes, you have your tabbys, calicos, Persians, etc.
yes, cats have different breeds just like dogs do. There are currently 39 breeds that are recognize by the cat fancers society to show, with different colors and fur lengths in each breed. So there are hundreds of different kitty colors and types. check out the link, it will give you more info!
yes they do
Cats have MANY different names and breeds. I would be here all day if I tried to tell you them all. But the most common of cats are the Tabby, which are normally two different colours, like grey and white, or orange and white, or black and grey. My favourite breed is Siamese, they can be temperamental but I have always had them. You can also get Persians which are very fluffy cats. Though I don't tend to like how much they shed. Get a cats for dummies book, it give you all the different breeds and colours and history.:)
I have worked in a Vet hospital for the last 41/2 years, and yes cats come in many different breeds. And there is also a huge list of colors. check it out on the web, some breeds are: Manx, domestic long and short hair, Persian, etc.
Cats come in all different breeds and colours. The most common in north America is the "domestic short/long hair"
I have 2 DSH one is a orange %26 white the other is a Calico. that is what color they are. The orange and white has huge patched of both colors. The calico has patches of black white and orange.

Back to breeds, there are also cross breeds I did at one time have a miss between a russian Blue and a Siamese.
plenty of them
. like people . Persian . Angora . Siames.. etc., ..
Yes, cats have different breeds. There are two different sources to go to if you want to get a full list of the breed types. CFA (Cat Fancier's Association) and TICA. Not all of the TICA breeds are recognized by CFA and the other way around. For example, I have two Bengal cats. CFA has no listing on them, so they are registered by TICA.

Besides the breed there are desriptions for their coat patterns, calico, tabby, point, seal point, lynx point, marble, snows, etc. These are not breeds of cats but are just pattern descriptions.
Yes and no. There are pedigreed cats www.cfa.org which are different breeds. There is the world of mixed breeds, where I got my cat and everyone is unique and looks different and just is perfect as he/she is. Some breeds have been around for years like the Siamese, and some are relatively new. Most pedigreed cats, are expensive but if you really have to have one sometimes you can get a rescue or a retired breeding queen for less money than a brand new perfect kitten. Check around the web. Go to a cat show. It's fun.
Yes there's all kinds of cats.

Do cats have belliebuttons??

Answers:
Hi Elliot.cats are placental mammals therefore they do have umbilical cords similar to humans. Instead of having a "belly button" they do have umbilical scars which are easliy visible when their abdomens are shaved. This area is often pale in color, flat, and hairless. Typically is about a half to whole centimeter in size. It is often used as an anatomical landmark when spay incisions are made. Although the area is not a navel in the human sense, it is the feline equivalant. The "belly button" in animals is more properly known as the umbilicus.
no
of course they do, they are mammals! all mammals have bellybuttons because all mammals were once attached to their moms with the umblical cord. the only thing is that on furry mammals like cats you can't see them because they are covered by hair. look at a great ape or a whale and you will see their belly buttons quite clearly.
i have tons of cats and ive never seen one :o)
Yup they. The funny thing is that my brother doesn't have one. When he was a baby his got infected and it fell off. All he has is a flat scar
Any animal that is attached to it's mother via an umbilical cord during pregnancy has a belly button. It might not be as prominent as a human's, but it's there. When my dog was a puppy, it was really noticeable, but now that he's grown, I can't find it anymore!
All animals that are born through a uterus and a placenta have an umbilical cord have bellybuttons just most are not seen.
Yes they do, but it's not called a belly button. It's call the umbilical.
Yes they do.
Yes..but they are hard to find, i found the one on my pet cat, all it is is a smalll spot on them without hair.. (It's really smooth).
Yes, they do. All mammals have it. I can still remember when my previous cat gave birth for the 1st time, it was my mother who cut the umbilical cord. Maybe you just can't see it coz it is buried under its fur.

Do cats have anal glands?

I know that cats don't have many anal gland problems. What are those two dots on each side of the @#%%26! under its tail. I thought my cat had a dirty butt but it doesn't, just two dark dots.

Thanks!
Answers:
yes, cats have anal glands. Some have trouble expressing them and must be taken to the vet and have then expressed maually by a vet. Other cats never have any trouble with them. If concerned then have your vet check them out
Those are the anal glands at approximately 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock on the anus.

If they get too full sometimes the cat will scoot on the carpet or floor to release them. Generally they are kept in good shape by normal bowel movements. I have had a cat with impaction and infection from their being plugged up.

What comes out of those glands has to be the worst smelling stuff in the universe!
Yes, this group of glands are called the supracaudal organ.

Two main types of gland are found in the dermal layer of the skin of the cat - the sweat glands and the sebaceous glands. Most of the sebaceous glands are associated with hair follicles and produce an oily secretion, sebum, which waterproofs the hairs and maintains the suppleness of the skin. In addition, a collection of much larger sebaceous glands are found on the chin, the lips, the dorsal (top) surface of the base of the tail and also the eyelids, prepuce and scrotum. The collection of glands under the skin in the chin area is sometimes referred to as the submental organ and the glands around the base of the tail are known as the supracaudal organ.

The oily secretion of these larger sebaceous glands appears to have a role in territorial marking and cats will repeatedly rub their chin, lips, temporal area and base of tail over certain objects. In time the secretions build up on favourite marking objects and may be seen as black, greasy patches. Cat owners may have noticed that they are 'marked' by their pets on returning home. Cats will also often mark certain objects at feeding time.
Yes, they do just like dogs. They can get impactions like dogs.but not as common in cats.

Do Cats hate sneezing?

My cat makes a sort of cackling noise if I sneeze or sniff loudly! Why would she do this?
Answers:
I've never had that problem with my cat, it seems like a lot of others do, I think it sounds cute. I would like to hear the 'cackle' you speak of. LOL. If I sneeze loudly my cat just goes into the 'gonna run at any minute' pose, then relaxes again.
My kitten also does this, I've come up with two thoughts, 1: The cat is worried about you. 2: The cat doesn't know what it is and/or the sound hurts the cats ears.
My cat sneezes like 10 times a day, he makes that noise all the time. I think it's the kitten's ACH-OOO! ^_^ SO cute
I've always had cats and sneezing seem to bug all of them. It must startle them or hurt their ears. Maybe if it's a big sneeze, they are of afraid of getting wet! :)
She's basically telling you to stop bothering her with the noise. That's kinda funny, I love cats and their weird ways. I have 3. I have one who LOVES Poland Spring water bottle cases, like the 24 packs. He waits til its almost empty and will crawl inside under the plastic and hang out for hours. He will not accept any other brands. I'll send you a pic of that if you want to share your full email address. Although I don't blame you, not knowing me, if you don't.
Your cat could be asking you what you're doing when you sneeze, too, being worried about you. I would pet her after to reassure her.
Hi Peapod
Your cat may have some unwanted hair up her nose, When she sneeze's its only moving it around, Damp some kitchen paper and squeeze it gentley around her nose, she may not like or let you but give it a go. Just to help her
cats always hate loud, unexpected sounds around them, it catches them off guard and the reaction is just instinctual and a predetermined. A loud sniff sounds like a hiss almost to them.etc. just try to sneeze away from your cat.lol
maybe she is just startled at the sudden and unexpected noise?
i think when u sneeze in front of a cat, they think u are yelling at them.they dont know the difference.my cat meows that little meow when he's scared when i happen to sneeze by accident in front of him..
I have allergies and sneeze all the time. My cats don't seem to mind the sneezing, they only mind if I startle them.
so cute..shes jus like mine..i guess its an unusual sound coming from the humans n it kinda startle them.
Maybe she's laughing at you.
maybe you startled her.
cats hear sounds much differently than humans and they can hear much higher frequencies than we can. a sneeze is annoying to a cat like a noise that annoys a person
My cat doesn't pay that much attention unless he's doing a little "lap-time".then his eyes get big and he tries to get close to my face..I guess to see where the sound comes from.
One of my cats hates it when you sneeze and comes up to offer comfort. The other is not bothered at all. I think it just gives some cats a bit of a shock as it is an unexpected noise.
maybe your cat does this because she thinks that you are the dominate one and she is looking up to you and folling your actions its very normal.
my cat sneezes all the time drives me bonckers
u cant tell unless ur a cat

Do cats hate lemons?

I want a safe and organic way to discourage my 2 kittens from ripping my carpet up and climbing the curtains, and I was told that they hate the smell of lemons. So I put a few drops of lemon essential oil on the carpet, and they smelt it and didn't seem particularly bothered. I don't want to use lemon juice, as this may go 'off' after a while. What else can I use?
Answers:
Hi there.some cats aren't bothered with certain scents where others are repelled by them. Apple Bitter is an alternative product you can try, however again it may or may not work so you'll need to experiment.

Here's what the product looks like which can be found at most pet stores: http://www.healthwizeforpets.com/images/.
I have heard that cats hate any citrus fruit, I used orange to discourage my kitten from pooing behind my tv and it worked.
Hiya Flossie
That's the first time i have heard that, There is a spray that you can buy in your local pet store. I haven't used them myself but i have seen them in the stores
you know its sense? what happen?
Pepper works.
I've heard citrus, orange peels work.
Do they have a scratching post made of sisal rope? Try one made of rope instead of just carpeted posts. I really feel the carpeted ones confuse them and set them up to start in on the floor carpets. Rub the new sisal post with catnip to encourage.
When you catch them using claws on the carpet, just tell them 'no, that's not a scratching post'.. gently pick them up and set them to using claws on the rope. Get one that is tall enough for them to stretch up on while they claw.
I usually shoo them away from the curtains and use a water spray bottle. Hadn't had problems about the curtains yet
i really cannot help you, am allergical for cats, so I do not know whatever they hate..may be you'll have more answers on your questions which can help you, good luck ..
Get a spray bottle with water in it and spray them everytime they do it and they will stop and it does not take long.
Ours have always freaked at all citrus - especially orange rinds -maybe try them. Better way is just to train your dear kitties - hard work for you, but worth it! Make sure they have a scratching and climbing post, and get out that water squirter!
I have used citrus in the passed - used lemon and orange peel skin (obviously replacing it as it goes off), and over a course of a couple of weeks, it deters the cats and they learn not to do it anymore. I then removed the peels altogether.

I have also heard you can use lemon scented soap etc. try rubbing it on the carpet for a few days to discourage them.

Although it is never easy to try and discourage cats to stop scratching!
completely irrelevant, but after your beautiful south answer, try this:
