Could my cat have a UTI?

I took my long haired cat in to the groomer this morning to have her rear area shaved down and cleaned. The groomer noticed her "pee area" to look a little stained. Could that possably be an indication there may be a UTI or something that I may be concerned about? Her "potty habits" are great and she has never gone outside the litterbox. She eats and drinks fine, and there is no other indication there might be something wrong.
Answers:
Yes, let a Vet check her out.
Maybe she just had a pee stain?
kitty girl take her to the vets the vet is the only one that can answer properly ..good luck
No the urea in urine can bleach out some of the pigment in the hair. If it is not showing signs of discomfort or having chronic urination issues it should be fine. Just try to keep an eye on its drinking and peeing habbits. If everything is normal don't worry about it.
If you are really worried I would take her to you veterinarian to get a definitive answer.
I would think it entirely normal for a long-haired cat's pee area to be a little stained. My really long-haired cat doesn't always clean himself immediately after using a box. So the groomer may just have "caught" her before she had cleaned herself.

To my knowledge staining is not a symptom of a urinary infection. Don't worry about this at all.
Your cat is a longhair.
The urine drips on the fur when she urinates, thats all.
If she had an infection, she would yowl or meow while urinating or possibly urinate in an unusual area (i.e. pile of laundry or on your bed) to get you to notice there is a problem.
Keep her litter box clean and maybe trim the fur from her rear to prevent bacteria from building up back there.
It never hurts to have your vet do a urinalysis. She could have UTI or Crystals.
In the end its better to be safe then sorry. Depending on how old she is she may be lossing bladder control just like people due.
Your vet can perscribe something to help, if that is the case.
Usual cost for a urinalysis runs around the $60-80.00 mark anything is additional cost. Make arrangements with your vet if your not able to afford it in full. If your a good reliable client there should be no problem with payment arrangements.
I've been a groomer for 20 years. The pee area is commonly stained. It doesn't mean that the cat has a uti. If the cat isn't straining to go, there is no blood in the urine, and eats and drinks with no problems, and has no other symptoms, it shouldn't have a uti. Dark urine is, however a sign of a little dehydration. Try to get the cat to drink a little more water. Moisten the dry food with some water, or if your feeding wet food, add some water to it. The urine does stain the area back there, its very common.
eating/drinking/urinating fine.not a UTI.probably just staining because she is a long haired cat.she's fine.well she doesn't have a UTI anyways :)
sounds like shes just getting her hair wet and over time its discolored. my dads cat had a uti and started urinating everywhere. the vet said it was hurting so she was trying to alleviate the problem.
it doesn't sound like that to me, but if you are concerned, call your vets office they may be able to tell you over the phone if it is anything to worry about.
It is possible for cats to get UTI's but as long as she is not crying when she is doing her business (as kitty UTI's are more painful then that of ours) then she is probably ok but you can always have the vet check for you
just observe her when she is using the litter box.make sure she isnt straining to pee other than that i would maybe mention it to the vet the next time you go
Urine sometimes just stains fur. Notice the hair on a dog's penis; it's almost always urine stained. If you're concerned, double check with a vet. But as long as she's not showing any discomfort or change in habits, I wouldn't worry too much.
i would not be concerned until she shows signs of discomfort
i just saw in the store a litter that check Urine Ph. Maybe try some of that. It has a chart on how to read it on the box.

my Maine Coon had FLUTD ( UTI) and he didn't pee regularly for a while and was VERY unlike himself, The vet taught me to rub his belly and near the "pee area", if i feel any hardness, if i rub a bit harder, he pees a bit.

I woudl call your vet and ask his opinion. FLUTD can kill a cat if gone untreated. I sounds to me like the cat may just be a messy pee-er. I have a cat whoes a messy poop-er, but his colon and bowels are a-okay.

hope that helps :D
