depressed cat?

i got a kittten when i had an elderly cat. the kitten loved the elderly cat, but the elder didnt like the kitten much. about a year later, the elder cat died. ever since, shes slept more, been less playful, got kinda fat. i think shes depressed. sometimes she go and looks for her in the room the elderly used to stay. is there anything i can do?

It appears that cats seem to accept death better if they actually get to see the body of the deceased cat and smell it. If this will not happen the cat may not understand where their best friend has gone and will keep on looking for him/her. Giver her some time and give plenty of opportunities to play and catnip.
The link below can help you understand how pets mourn.
I have a dog that acs like that sometimes the vet said it just his personality
Maybe if you go to the pound and get another cat to be her friend.
She may need another companion. If you're up for two cats again, find your depressed cat a buddy.
You should speak with your vet. You could take your cat along with you to the pound and see if it gets along with any of the other ones. Also, you can play with it to keep its mind off of the elderly cat's death. Eventually, it will move on.
she is lonely get another cat about her age.
Get her another playmate. Getting another cat is a win-win situation for her to have company, for you not to be worried about her anymore, and to give the new cat a loving home.
yes..find a partner 4 ur cat..
a couple i guess.
so that ur cat wont being alone anymore and always busy wif his/her partner
Ashley, I think your cat needs another good companion. To make this cat happy maybe you should get a KITTEN not a cat. Most cats don't get along with each other and so a kitten and an adult cat would work great! I am experiencing all of that right now with my cats and my dogs. I hope this works for you cause it really has worked for me and all the people i have given this answer to. So good luck!
