No, Cats do not die easily. They can even fall from a couple of stories and stillbe safe. It is one of the most sturdy animal of its kind. This cat must have died of some other reason, may be some internal bleeding or anything.
And yes, one thing more, when a cat attacks, move away. Dont ever try and harm the cat as it can have grave repurcussions. Well, this is just a faith of some cultures that cats are not suppose to be hurt.

when i read your question , i was amazed , i couldnt believe what i was reading !! I am more of a dog person than a cat person but any animal feels pain the same !! I am honestly right now praying for your soul , you poor poor child!

I'm going to assume for now that it did something to merit being kicked. Animals tend to be amazingly resiliant. However, even if it does die, so what? Its just an animal, and a cat on top of that. Unless the cat is owned by someone that's going to get upset, or you did something unwise like take pictures, or post about it on the internet, chances are you won't get charged with anything.
