Cat trimming accident?

Persian cats hair got to long and she went to the bathroom and the poop was stuck in her hair..I gave her a bath and went to trim her was doing fine.

Towards the end I was cutting a hair ball and cut to much and she scratched at me so I stopped. Then I looked and there is a flap of all skin just hanging off of her and I can see her actual body.. Not really sure what to do if it will heal on its own what do I do about the excess amount of skin?

Will go to the vet if needed but moneys tight and just wondering what the options are.

Wow, you got some dramatic answers! You could apply hydrogen peroxide to cleanse the open wound an apply a pet/animal-intended liquid bandage at the edges of the "flap" (pressing the edges together and holding until it adheres) then wrap the wounded area so that the cat can't get to it. The cat is not likely to help you in your attempt and there is a chance of infection. ALSO,.cats are naturally self-cleaning creatures and your cat would likely defeat your economical fix. You should head for the vet, I'm sure kitty is worth the money in the affection and companionship he/she has given you and yours.
I would think she must be in danger of getting a serious infection if this is not taken care of. The scissors you used were most likely not sterilized and bacteria could have been introduced into the wound.

So I feel you have no alternative except taking her to a vet and getting the "flap" treated. Especially since it can be further contaminated by feces.
you need to take your cat to the vet b/c an infection can get into the open flap of skin and then you are going to have a even more expensive vet bill.
You have no options you need to go to the vet, this is an open wound, and there is the chance of infection, you can let it heal on its own, but, if it was you what would you do, I am not trying to sound mean, I could not take a chance, many facilities will allow you to arrange payments, most walk in are around forty dollars plus meds, some places will also allow you to post date checks,
Everybody costs. You didn't cut a HUGE GAPING HOLE, did u?
Depending upon the size of the hole, can you put a clean gauze dressing, wrapped around and secure it. There's something called a First Aid Kit for Cats about $12.00. Petsmart is open today. I would get that if it's not a HUGE-HUGE HOLE-then go to the emergency vet! Other than that- petsmart is the place- AND BE CAREFUL! I know u feel terrible!
well, you kind of cut your cat skin open.so.maybe you should go to the vet. i mean you dont want it to get infected. if you had a cut like that would you just leave it because you are "tight"on money? you should go to the vet. thanks
I used to work at a pet clinic and this was VERY common, people would accidentally snip their pets ALL the time. You should never use scissors on her, use only electric trimmers like vets and groomers do. Anyway, if it is large you shold take her to the vet as it may need a stitch or two, and you don't want it to get infected. If it is tiny you can probably treat it with some antibiotic cream and watch it to make sure it is healing properly.
Well if the skin is hanging off her, you really should go to the vet, especially as it is in a place that can easily get infected.

If you don't go to the vet, you need to thoroughly clean the wound twice a day and after she goes to the toilet. Keep this up until it has healed.

I would choose the vet option though because of the high risk of infection.
