Cat ready to give birth or already had/abandoned them?

I was recently adopted by a pregnant stray cat. She's been at my house for the last week and a half but has occasionally strayed off for a few hours. The last 2 days she has been here constantly and her niples have gotten bigger. After she hung around all day yesterday I let her in and put her in a back room where she seems content. I just discovered that her milk has started coming in.

Does this mean she is getting ready to deliver at any time? Is it possible that she had the kittens a couple of days ago and abandoned them or they died and she left them? I wasn't sure if she would get her milk before or after the kittens were born.
Answers:
It can happen (milk) either way. Usually after they give birth. Check her tummy, Can you feel them moving? If she had them outside , she would want to go look for them. Good luck
i think she is good luck.
It probably means she is getting ready to deliver.
If she had had her babies already, then she would be crying to go outside all the time because she would want to be with them. Mother cats don't usually abandon their young.
Plus she should look a lot thinner if she gave birth already, so if she's still the same size, then she hasn't given birth yet.
Note: I don't know firsthand because my cats have never given birth.
Has she started nesting? That is a sure sign she is about to give birth.

Anyway, I'd say you are about to become a grandma. Congratulations.
if she has already had the kittens, it is unlikely that she would let you keep her in the house if they were outside somewhere. it is possible that she could start to produce some milk just before she gives birth. try and let her out during the daytime and follow her if you can. if she has already had them she may lead you to them.but for tonight watch her. she may start labor. good luck
