Cat question?

I have a 7, almost 8 year old male cat. He's a tabby. he seems a little down in the dumps the past few days..I'm just worried that he's sick. He's eating, keeping it down, and when I tempt him enough he will play with his toys. He just seems.sad. I don't know whats wrong. What I'm worried about is he contracted something from these damn roaches that have been in our piece of crap apartment for the past 9 months. We are working on moving out soon as possible but our lease is up in January. We've tried exterminating and everything, and can't tent because its a 12 unit apartment building and not everyone has a problem. But anyway, is there something I should be worried about?
Answers:
Yes!roaches are gross..ur cat isnt feeling well because he has to many of them in his belly.lol.just kidding..ur cat may have some type of worm in his stomach.is he poopin and peeing normally..what has changed in ur household.check on these questions.if u still believe that something is really wrong..take him to ur vet..cats and dogs need year check ups any ways
When was his last checkup at the vet?
Is it possible that he has gotten hold of the roach poison?
I would take him to the vet as soon as possible. You're his mom so you know him best. If he's not acting like himself there could be something going on. Take him to the vet just to be sure.
probably its not the roaches that are bothering him themselves.. but if you tried exterminating them then its likely some have poison in their systems and your cat is getting the poison from them or simply from your home in general
his cat friend broke up with him.give him time
take him to the vet bug bomb the appartment then if it doesnt work i feel bad for the cat
he could just have kitty depression I know my cats get it every once in a while
are you taking him to the vet yearly for his vaccinations?
I doubt he is sad. Most cats just want to lay around they will play if you give enough encouragement. If he is eating and keeping it down. I wouldn't worry. If he starts to stop eating, looses weight, or large amounts of hair then I would worry. We have a female that is about that age and all she does now is lay around. This should help you figure his age and it makes a little more sense of why they slow down. At one year a cat is a grown up, if a cat were a human 1 yr = 18 yrs, 2 yrs = 25 yrs, 10 yrs = 60 yrs, 18 yrs = 80 yrs. Plus with the strange weather we have had so far this year that may play a factor as well. Cats seem to generally lay around more toward fall and winter, even if they are inside pets.
Perhaps he is lonely? My grandma's kitty showing similar behaviour around 6 years old, and they got a couple of kittens. He perked right up!
he coiuld be bored and lonely get him some car grass and catnip toys and see if this helps
you should have the cats mouth checked it may have dental disease or an abcess that can depress them and cause serious problems with their heart and lungs. if you are concerned and cant convince to go to the vet get an anal tempreature the normal should be around 100.0 to 102.0 anything else you means there is a problem and illness
If there is an obvious difference in the behavior of your cat, he needs to be taken to the vet. Behavioral changes are a tell-tale sign that he's feeling bad. It may not be serious, but if you wait to take him to the vet, it could end up being something VERY serious.
Sounds like he might be ailing, expecially since the other cat is OK. At first I was concerned that the extermination of the bugs might somehow have affected him. Since the other cat is OK there must be something else going on.

So I definitely would have a vet check and a blood panel done to rule out any treatable illness.
Give him lots of extra love and attention. Cats have ups and downs, just like people.

Check him for swellings on his neck, though, as well as weight gain. Being sluggish MAY be a sign of hypo-thyroid. Definitely take him to the vet if this keeps up.
Sounds like your great with the cats and I think your idea of having the vet check him out is right on point! Good luck, hope all is well-
I would schedule a check up with the Vet. You cat should have one every year anyways. Tell the vet what is going on. Make sure your cat's shots are all up to date.
Take him to the vet, ASAP! Depression is a tell tale sign of sickness. Cats should be taken to the vet annually for check ups and shots. It's probably not from the roaches themselves, but it could be from the pesticides that were used in the attempt to get rid of them
get your chat to the vet .. cats should be taken to the vet on regular basis .. I guess and since of what I understood from your writings that when you play and give affection to the cat it goes kind of to normal .. I guess that he needs more attention and it is asking you to do that .. but still get him to the vet
If you - or even your neighbors - have been poisoning your roaches, you can be poisoning your cat as well, as roaches will happily run through the cat food as well as everything else. DO insist to your mom that you bring the cat to the vet, as he is obviously sick. Explain about the exterminating to the vet and he should call animal poison control.
