Cat Problems.Help!?

I had been having a lot of problems with my 2 cats urinating throughout my house. They have both been spayed and the problem continues.

I clean the areas where they have had these 'accidents' including washing all the fabrics, cleaning surfaces, etc. but still the problem continues. Also, I always keep their litterbox clean.

I do not know what to do to get them to stop this behavior. I have never caught either one of the cats doing this so I don't know which one it is. I have had them spayed, tested for bladder infections, and clean their litterbox daily. Getting rid of either one of them is NOT an option.

Should I get them separate litterboxes or what?
Any suggestions??

Separate litterboxes is advised (actually, I read that in multiple-cat households, the number of litterboxes should be equal to the number of cats, plus one.

If plausible, try to have the cats closeted separately in small rooms, with a litterbox each, that may help you understand which cat does it and you can concentrate on her.

wouldn't hurt to get an extra litter box. what are you using to clean up the messes. get some nature's merical, it has enzymes that will eat away at the urine and then there won't be any smell and your cats will be less likely to go there. if all else fails confine them to a small room with the litter box, and some water. and of course a few toys to. they will eventually get the idea they need to use the box.
First, try going to the vet to rule out any medical problems that could be causing this. The problem could be behavioural and I know there is a plug in pheromone release product available that can reduce anxiety and stress and promote calming. Give it a try - I have heard it works on some cats, from when I worked in a vet surgery. This is available from the vets too. If you use an odour neutralizer on the area they have urinated it may stop them doing it again.
hello, i am wondering what you have been using to get the smell off the fabrics etc cause sometimes just washing the clothes will not stop the cats from repeeing as they still can smell it i think.

i had a similar problem when i roomed with this guy and others, he got his daughter a kitten but never taught the kitten to use a litterbox and i would go off to work and shut my door in my room(the door would never shut right) and i would come home and eat then go to bed, and i would see the comforter cover was wet cause the kitten peeed on it.

and i would scrub the comforter and wash it and then it happened about 3 days later. oh it used to get up my nose.

thank god i left there lol.

um maybe there might be a spray at your vet or pet shop that you could use which would be really stinky to cats and they might not do it anymore.

are the cats indoors only?

maybe different litterboxes might work.

my mother in law she has a huge litterbox and her four cats all use it and she always cleans it each day., but they also go outside and may pee there.

hope that helps :)
First off.if one or both of the cats are a male, this is normal behavior for them, even if they have been neutered. You could try separate litter boxes but I doubt it would help. Cats (even females) can be territorial. What are you cleaning with? Regular cleaners like Pine Sol and that type of thing doesn't work. You need a cleaner that kills the enzymes that pet urine leaves behind. You can find these at pet stores. Natures Miracle is a good one. Don't be afraid to use to much of it either (you want to make sure you get all of the mess) If you notice that they are spraying in a particular area of your house, make sure you clean the area well, then keep the area tidy (no clothes laying around on the floor) there is also a product called Boundary. You could spray that around to keep the cats completely away from that particular area.
Cats can be tricky with this problem.best of luck to you.
y don't u go 2 the pet shop n ask 4 help. they have this kind of spray that cats n dogs don't dare go near n it not harmful 2 them.as least
get another litter box, maybe two if you can afford it.
