It 's funy but J have same problem but answer is amazon.com have CaT clening kit 12$ and it"s rocks :)
Before last week I wouldn't have said yes but I had to do it last weekend. She was having a problem with a very itchy ear so I got one of those really soft tissues and wet it with warm water and then just ran my thumb around inside her ear. Perfect.
If your cat will let you, you can use q-tips- just do NOT go into the ear canal.
We have two cats. They both "love" to have their ears cleaned with Q-Tips. You have to be careful not to go too deep into the ear, just as if you were doing to yourself.
warm a towel and clean the ear safely..but warning that never use a cottonbud..

it is not good for them..!!
Cotton ball and ear cleaner they sell just about anywhere.Try baby Q-tips also to get the hard to reach places.
Use Q-tips on the inside, but NOT IN THE HOLE

And put a very small (E.X. A CAP FULL) of peroxide in the ear to kill any ear mites

WARNING: the cat will freak out when the peroxide enters the ear because of the bubbling, It does not hurt them
